An exciting opportunity to join a growing company operating in a high-tech industry that is expanding rapidly. We are looking for an experienced design engineer, who will oversee the product from concept design through to manufacture. Products need to be robust and reliable, so experience of delivering for medium to high volume manufacturing will be an advantage. Strong CAD skills coupled with Design For Manufacture / Assembly / Test (DFM etc) and FMEA skills are desirable.
Responsibilities and activities will include:
o Total ownership for delivery of the product including enclosure design and packaging; o Driving all DFM/A/T and FMEA activities with an external manufacturing partner; o Validation of all test data and test reports from internal and external testing to gain relevant product regulatory approvals including CE; o Active promotion of quality standards whilst managing and driving towards continuous improvement; o To be a key player in the Product operations activity, including: returns, customer complaints, product failure diagnosis, Product quality monitoring and improvement.
Skills sought:
Experienced all round engineer with strong mechanical and product design experience plus extensive 3D CAD design and modelling skills. Ideally BSc, or higher degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline. Experience in a company that manufactures medium to high volume cost sensitive product in a high reliability environment, including: Implementation of product development with an off-shore manufacturer, 6 sigma and IS09001-2008 involvement, good cost awareness and commercial acumen.
