About The Role

Swim England is the national governing body for swimming in England.

We help people learn how to swim, enjoy the water, and compete in our sports of swimming, diving, water polo and artistic swimming.

We are seeking to appoint an Events Officer to join our team on a temporary basis, as a maternity cover. This role will be primarily home based with occasional travel to our Head Office in Loughborough alongside attending events throughout the year.

This is an exciting opportunity working within our Events team to deliver a range of much anticipated events as we are back in the full swing of things following the pandemic. You will report directly to our Head of Events to plan and deliver national events. You will manage and implement all competition related activities in line with the sport technical specialist and strategic objectives.

The role will involve working in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure competitions and events are delivered in line with the agreed specifications and time frames. Taking the lead on all aspects of planning and delivery of competitions and events, managing procurement and investment of resources and monitoring of outcomes and evaluation of individual events will also form part of the role.

It is important to us that all our events are delivered in a safe and inclusive environment for those attending and supporting with its delivery and we feel this is a key indicator of its success.


About You

The successful candidate must have:
  • 2 years+ working knowledge and experience of event project management
  • Well organised, proactive, with the ability to manage multiple projects and strands and achieve unmovable deadlines
  • Ability to supervise a varied team of staff, contractors and volunteers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Financially savvy with the ability to effectively manage budgets and follow financial processes
  • Experience of drafting plans, proposals and reports utilising insight and conducting analysis
  • A problem solver, able to find solutions and achieve results
Experience working within sports/aquatic events would be desirable but not essential.
