This position requires an enthusiastic and committed Public Health Engineer to assist in the development of the Environmental Services team within the Midlands Campus. Key tasks include the production of scheme and detailed designs from concept to construction.
Working under the direction of the Discipline Leader, the role also requires an element of technical leadership of the Public Health discipline such as giving guidance to less experienced engineers and ensuring that the team’s work is reviewed and that designs are efficient and buildable.
The person will join a Building Design group comprising approximately 75 people split between Solihull and Nottingham including Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Services, Structural, CAD technicians and support staff. It is a vibrant and dynamic group. The position is based at Arup Campus, Solihull within an open plan environment.
Role
- Developing sketch / scheme desi! gns as appropriate to the workstage
- Developing these ! designs into workable construction drawings Guidance and supervision of less experienced team members and checking of their work Self checking of own work Participating in the review of own and others work Production of drainage calculations (eg pipework, attenuation and soakaway sizing) Liaison with external Authorities to seek permission to discharge consents Liaison with internal and external design teams where appropriate Assisting the Discipline Leader with the management and resourcing of the team
The preferred candidate will;
Be degree qualified in Civil engineering and be working towards professional membership of an appropriate Institution Have an excellent working understanding of and can demonstrate proven skills in above and below ground drainage design of buildings and small sites Be able to confidently use relevant technical software (Microdrainage) for modelling and designing below ground drainage systems Ideally be able to use! Microstation and or Civils 3D and Revit MEP Be interested in site development and small civil engineering works Be a team player, able to work to deadlines
