The Men’s magazine team have a vacancy for a Media Planner working across Empire, FHM, Zoo and Wonderpedia. We’re seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player who is looking to cut their teeth in the world of media sales. The primary tasks involve managing all of the magazine’s flatplans so all advertising inventory is booked and appears correctly, ensuring all team admin systems run efficiently and being the essential link for the sales team with our editorial, production and publishing counterparts. Key requirements include: strong time management, attention to detail, ability to juggle several tasks at any one time and sound IT literacy skills (Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc).

- Controlling flatplans on behalf of the advertising team(s) ensuring all ad pages and bound-in inserts are positioned within guarantee.
- Run the dummy meetings with Editorial Production and Ad Production to ensure all ads run within required position
- Maintaining excellent relationships with sales teams across each title.
- Liaising with editorial at all times over flatplan changes, ad requirements and to negotiate special positions. Flatplans must be kept updated at all times with new options and all new bookings.
- Ensure sales team work to paging and copy deadlines and confirm all optioned ads in a timely fashion.
- Ensure all option sheets are correct and correspond with booking system at all times.
- Make sure Brand Directors are kept up to date with regard to issue size decisions and deadlines on each title, to ensure accurate forecasting.
- Keep Editorial Production Managers updated on new flatplans.
- Organise all advertising confirmations and sign off of each issue across portfolio.
- Facilitate implementation of electronic flatplanning across magazine sales floor.
- Must be willing to coach sales staff until they achieve proficiency with new system(s) and act as resident system expert.
- Must be flexible and willing to adopt and champion all new systems that help improve optioning, flatplanning and order confirmation collection.
- Competitor analysis â€" take control of all competitor magazines the day they arrive and update the sales team immediately of any business missed. Attend leads meetings and input info on the competitor analysis spreadsheets.
- Handle account queries on behalf of the Brand Directors
- Junior sales executive responsibilities â€" to account manage small agency patches and run Telmar, Ad Dynamix, NRS reports (to be trained on these).
- To keep sales team’s media kits updated and accurate at all times
- To assist in all team admin duties: mail shots, presentation preparation, voucher copy requests, back issue management etc
