Our client is a dynamic independent company who run high quality Ofsted registered special schools in South East England. T! he schools cater for excluded pupils with challenging behaviors who cannot be educated within local Authority provision.
Currently we are looking for a 5 years experienced, hands -on Deputy Head Teacher for the School.
THE ROLE:
The Deputy Head Teacher will be required to provide support to the head teacher in the day to day management of the school and lead on the development of specific areas of teaching and learning.
It is anticipated this post will involve 50% contact time with an expectation to teach English & Pshce. It is a requirement of the post that standards within their own classroom are not compromised whilst they undertake this role.
Person Specification
QTS with a minimum of 5 years experience
Evidence of ongoing professional development in education
First Aider
Skills and abilities
Able to offer calm response to young people with SEBD
Able to plan and prioriti! se workload
IT literate â" experience of using word,! excel, PowerPoint and e-mail as well as using internet for research
Able to work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals
Able to offer creative solutions to problems
Able to be an effective communicator in a variety of media
Able to delegate effectively
Experience of managing and developing staff
Able to plan, assess and maintain oversight of childrenâs education plans and teaching and learning
Able to write and keep effective records and reports
Able to support pupils in forming and sustaining effective relationships
Able to promote best practice
Able to reflect upon own practice in order to learn new skills and develop as a teacher
Able to promote and celebrate diversity and equal opportunities
Able to use policies to support practice
Knowledge and experience
Recent experience of teaching
Experience of managing young peopl! e with SEN
Knowledge of relevant legislation including Code of Practice for SEN
Working knowledge of National Curriculum and KS requirements
Knowledge of SEN spectrum and potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns
Knowledge and awareness of Safeguarding & Child Protection Procedures
Knowledge of specific courses and qualifications that will be of relevance for pupils
Management
Able to account for a range of resources including money and equipment.
Able to motivate and supervise colleagues
Able to manage time and planning effectively
Experience of managing a budget
Evidence of managing others e.g. Teaching Assistants
