Your principal role within the team will be supporting senior staff with technical input into a variety of projects. You will be encouraged to develop your own project management and tec! hnical skills and, depending on your level of experience, will be supported in taking on small projects.
You will hold an appropriate degree e.g. Geography, Engineering or Math, be able to display a good understanding of transport issues associated with development planning and ideally hold a transport-related post-graduate qualification. You will be IT literate with sound mathematical ability and excellent written and verbal communication skills and ideally be a member of an accredited professional organisation.
Importantly, you will be enthusiastic and looking for a long-term career in transport planning. The role will involve on-the-job training together with external training opportunities in order to progress your career.
Your role will focus on the following:
Assist with data collection, to include the organisation of traffic surveys/trip counts, highway adoption records, accident data and to analyse/present the results;
Produce figures! and diagrams to be used in technical reports using AutoCad an! d GIS software;
Assess scheme layout and design and provide feedback accordingly;
Assist in preparation of transport assessments and travel plans in support of development proposals; and
Attend meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
