Job Description
Oakwood D! istribution Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tesco PLC.
We provide merchandising support to a number of different categories including entertainment, cosmetics and books, in over 900 Tesco Stores via more than 1200 employees.

My job is:
To deliver the financial KPIâs of the Merchandising Services Plan. In conjunction with the Format Merchandising Support Manager, I ana! lyse trends and build robust improvement plans which deliver r! esults. I manage the day to day merchandising of a number of product ranges, supporting the districtâs strategy and critically assess all levels of operational compliance from merchandising, POS, OFDâs and general product availability in order to maximise the customer offer. I track performance, making decisions and recommendations to optimise sales and profitability.
I spend:
30% of my time reviewing with Store management weekly trade and ensuring optimum stock levels meet the Store Sales Plan
30% of my time reviewing and planning my teamâs performance and identifying
Opportunities to improve short and long term plans
20% of my time managing the associated administration
20% of my time leading and coaching my team
I know Iâve done a great job if:
- I deliver my budgeted KPIâs.
- Range Changes, Promotions and Great Seasonal Events are delivered in full and within the agreed c! ritical timelines.
- I actively look for opportunities to make the merchandising operation Better, Simpler, Cheaper.
- I identify and respond to changes in trading conditions and ensure action is taken to optimise sales, profit and customer offer.
- I effectively manage the weekly returns of service hours and compliance to drive out actions and monitor performance.
- I ensure clear next steps are agreed and in place to resolve all concerns, issues and areas of under performance.
- I manage and support my team to deliver all the KPIâs set.
- I work with the Store Management teamsâ in achieving our category service level target
- I ensure all new policies and processes are embedded in across the team.
- I have coached, developed and managed my team to deliver âWhat Good Looks Likeâ.
- I ensure effective management of change to drive business improvements.
- I attract, select and retain the best poss! ible staff to keep labour turnover to a minimum and carryout the busine! ss needs.

- Ideally have experience of working in a retail or Group merchandising role
- Able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with peers, store team and customers at all levels
- Excellent customer service skills
- Possess good time and people management and organisational skills
- A self-motivated individual with a flexible, can do attitude
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing a! nd orally
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually, using own initiative
- Capable of lifting and bending
- Preferably have a full driving license and reliable transport
- Must be flexible regarding working hours and times
