We are looking for an Assistant Foreign Editor to work on both the news desk and the! planning desk, dealing with both digital output and print focusing on international news for the Guardian.
You will be expected to help set the news agenda for the day, monitor news sources and commission correspondents and reporters to provide content for the paper and the web. This role will also involve editing copy, checking headlines and liaising with the multimedia, picture desk, graphics and page designers. You will also contribute to the smooth running and management of the department by helping to maintain a forward planning diary and planning coverage of future fixed events.
You will have a good grasp of international affairs with extensive knowledge and awareness of the demands of digital platforms and print. You will have a good understanding of Guardian values and significant journalistic experience.
With the ability to develop deeper understanding of digital and print sections you will have solid writing and commissioning skills, go! od news judgment, excellent attention to detail and strong int! erpersonal skills.
