Birmingham City Council is the UK’s largest local authority, an organisation undergoing radical change. This means there is great public interest in everything the council does. We are looking for a creative, self-starter to join us to contribute to the management of this challenging, rapidly-changing news agenda across the full range of service areas and to the proactive promotion of council services and policies via traditional and social media. You will contribute to a shift system and out-of-hours ! service. You will regularly interact with cabinet members and ! chief officers offering advice, often concerning controversial and difficult issues.
Applicants must have a journalism qualification (NCTJ) and have extensive media relations experience with a public sector organisation.
