Contract: Permanent - Full-Time / Part Time
Location: Patient Catering, 235 Euston Road, London, Greater London, England, NW1 2BU

Shift Pattern

  • Full-time & Part-time
  • 5/7 Shifts Including Weekends
  • 15.0 hours to 37.5 hours
  • 07:00 hours - 14:30 hours / 11:00 hours - 19:30 hours

Job Overview

To support the provision of a timely and reliable Catering service to in-patient wards and departments as required throughout the hospital via a plated meal service and deliver the best service to the patients

What we are looking for

In order to be successful in this role you will be a strong communicator and have a good standard of numeracy. You will be prepared to work in an environment that can have chilled, hot or noisy conditions. You will also be prepared to undertake manual handling and some heavy lifting with duties of the role. Food safety level 1 preferred and must be available to undertake mandatory training to comply with food safety.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking a variety of tasks within the catering facility including service of hot & cold food to patients plus beverage service.
  • This position will involve basic food preparation
  • Ensure all food is stored safely and at the correct temperatures as per the food safety guidelines
  • Serve all customers in a polite and friendly manner
  • Ensuring all areas are kept clean & tidy to always promote a safe working environment
  • Awareness of food & hygiene standards
  • Passionate about customer care, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
  • Able to work under pressure, individually and as part of a team with a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business.
  • Confident working in a hospital environment and aware at times you will meet patients that are particularly unwell or showing signs of distress.
  • A smart & tidy appearance is imperative for this position

Knowledge Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within a similar position
  • Food Safety Level 1
  • Ability to read, write and converse clearly in English.
  • Basic awareness of Health & Safety working practices.
  • Customer service skills including clear verbal communication.
  • Understand the importance of patient care, infection control and safety.
