Reporting to the Farm Manager, an opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader / Trainee Team Leader based at our pedigree farm facility in the Duns area of the Scottish Borders.

The successful candidate will be fully involved in the day-to-day activities on the farm including feeding, bird weighing and data collection. In addition to these duties, you will be responsible for supporting and organising a team of employees on site. In this role, you will be expected to provide assistance with the training and development of the staff whilst ensuring the required high standards of bird welfare, biosecurity and Health & Safety are implemented at all times.

You will be responsible for running the site in the manager’s absence during holiday periods as part of a management team.

This is a full time position, Monday to Friday (39 hours) plus 18 weekends (8hrs Sat & Sun) per annum with some evening welfare and operational checks.

Previous experience of poultry or other livestock would be useful but is not essential, as training will be provided for those with a genuine interest in a career in poultry management. Experience of managing and organising small teams of people will be important, as will good communication skills and a willingness to accept responsibility.
