Job Summary

Bringing Calgary Public Library’s strategic plan to life, customer service team members engage directly with users in support of literacy and lifelong learning both within the Library and out in the community. These positions provide responsive and friendly customer service and creates enriching library experiences for members of all ages, abilities and backgrounds through the delivery of specific Library programs that inspire wonder, play, and delight. Reflecting Calgary Public Library’s commitment to continuous improvement in the name of meeting the community’s ever evolving needs and expectations, contributing positively to change, working collaboratively and constructively in a dynamic team environment in which learning happens every day.

In partnership with the Canada Summer Jobs Program, the Library is excited to recruit for several Summer Student roles to conduct outreach programs at various locations in the city of Calgary.

Responsibilities and Activities

Deliver library programs and services related to summer programming for children participating in summer camps and/or visiting the Library. Tasks may include:
  • Independently conducting Storytime programs and leading outreach sessions throughout the city of Calgary
  • Supporting children in completing summer learning activities
  • Engaging visitors in our Early Learning Centres
  • Coordinating, transporting, setting-up and tearing-down program supplies (driving within city limits may be required for some roles)
  • Supporting co-workers in promotion and evaluation of programs and services
  • Circulation of library materials
