Job Description
1. Developing and maintaining web scraping tools using Python to gather relevant data from various sources in the energy sector.
2. Analyzing and processing the scraped data to identify trends, patterns, and potential trading opportunities.
3. Collaborating with the Power Desk team to enhance existing analytical tools and develop new ones to support decision-making in the energy market.
4. Assisting in the creation of reports and presentations to communicate findings to the broader team.
5. Adhering to Vitol's data management and privacy policies.
Qualifications
1. Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proficiency in Python, with experience in web scraping using libraries such as BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, or Selenium.
3. Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
4. Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools, such as pandas, NumPy, and matplotlib.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
7. Knowledge of or interest in the energy industry and commodity markets is a plus.

We are looking for a person with a strong interest in data science to join our team in an internship capacity. This would be a great fit for someone with experience in Python,with experience in web scraping using libraries such as BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, or Selenium.
