Your Role...

Reporting to the new vice-rector of research, doctoral education and interdisciplinarity, the advisor will give independent and active support to the vice-rector in strategic and operational issues in the area of medicine and health professions. Together with the Vice-Rector and in close collaboration with the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine and the vice-rectorate for academic affairs, the advisor will develop and implement relevant measures and act as an important interface between internal and external entities, including the relevant ministries, hospitals, health care providers, research centres, foreign universities, and international scientific committees.

As a key member of the VRR’s team supporting this strategic portfolio, the advisor contributes to advance the development of medicine and health professions in the University and in Luxembourg.

  • Seek good practices and provide international benchmarking for UL’s goals, enabling new initiatives as well as procedures and processes related to health care research, education and innovation, in coordination with relevant stakeholders;
  • Issue advice to the VRR and the teams working on medicine, health professions and biomedical research at request or at own initiative and prepare decision proposals;
  • Build strong relationships and credibility within the rectorate, working collaboratively with senior academic and administrative staff in medicine and health professions;
  • Contribute to the coordination of committees and/or working groups within and beyond the University;
  • Manage and contribute to the periodic and ad hoc production of reports, presentations and/or publications to internal and/or external stakeholders on strategic issues.
What we expect from you…
  • A medical degree and/or a PhD in a related scientific discipline. Knowledge of the healthcare sector and education are a must;
  • Knowledge of the higher education sector is essential;
  • Proven track record in project management and concept writing;
  • Ability to analyse, use and present complex data effectively;
  • Demonstrated integrity, excellent judgement and diplomacy, and well-developed oral and written communication skills, allowing you to handle sensitive issues while maintaining the respect and confidentiality of all parties;
  • Team-oriented and comfortable in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment;
  • Proficiency with modern office software, spreadsheets and collaborative platforms;
  • Excellent command of French, German and English; Luxembourgish is a plus;
  • Open-minded, proactive, able to multi-task and able to work autonomously;
  • Welcoming and service oriented attitude.
