THE TEAM:
The Network, Voice & Firewall team are responsible for innovating network design solutions, supporting operations and delivering network services to the business units. This entails the management and maintenance of networks services for the UK, Europe, India and Africa. The NVF team consist of 20+ UK based staff that are located th! roughout our main UK offices, 2 European based staff, 7 India ! based staff, and 2 North Africa (Tunisia) based staff.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Technical Specialist role is part of the Network, Voice and Firewall Operations team and provides first, second and third level support of Avaya and other Voice technologies. The main focus of the role is to provide BAU Support to all areas of the business including the Contact Centres. In addition to BAU activities, the role includes project work (usually at the implementation phase) and systems monitoring and management and reporting.

The ability to interact well with incident managers is essential. Need to be able to work under pressure in a reactive environment. The ability to work within an ITIL framework; using incident management, problem management, capacity management change management is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The day to day responsibilities will include technical service requests, incident management and change manage! ment
  • Participation in an 'out of hours' support rota (on-call) is essential.
  • Provide technical guidance and support as required
  • Monitor, manage infrastructure, circuits and services as appropriate
  • Work with and manage suppliers/vendors to ensure all services meet expectation and SLA
  • Become a key member of regional support team, adopting a proactive and diligent role
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Avaya ACA (or higher) qualification is preferred, but not essential.
  • Significant telecoms experience in a similar voice technical support role is essential, preferably within a global and / or a financial services company.
  • Candidate will need to be prepared to be flexible in approach to work content and responsibilities, along with 24x7 out of hours and on call support.
  • Experience providing network support is essential, preferably with a financial services company.
  • Candid! ate will be part of regional support team, providing some 'out of hours! ' and 'on call support' duties.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Must be able to interact with customers (the business) and technicians effectively.
  • Ideal candidate should have a good understanding of ITIL Service Management, specifically incident, problem and change management practices, operating to service level agreements
  • Ability to communicate with both business customers and technicians effectively
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Experience of working with Avaya voice and Cisco network technologies
  • Experience with Avaya Communications Manager system administration
  • Experience with Avaya systems hardware (including S8800, S8500 and S8300, G450/G430 architecture)
  • Experience with Avaya Call Centre environments and ACD functionality
  • Experience with multi-channel Contact Centre environments and CTI technology preferred
  • Experience of Polycom! conferencing technologies (DMA, CMA and RMX platforms)
  • Experience with Avaya Modular Messaging VoiceMail technology preferred
  • Experience of Verint call recording technology preferred
  • Knowledge of Symon wallboards preferred
  • Good organisation and communication skills at all levels
  • Possess a positive (can-do) and enthusiastic attitude
  • Conscientious, able to communicate well at all levels
  • Ability to fault find and troubleshoot
  • Ability to design/configure - following standard and best practice
  • Ability to cope with demanding schedules and pressured deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate relevant technical matters to colleagues and management
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches - Nexus and Catalyst: CAT-OS, IOS, NXOS
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP
  • Knowledge of DNS & DHCP
  • Knowledge of Network QoS (Quality of Service)
  • Experience with monitoring and analysis tools (Prognosis, Solar! Winds, NetScout, etc.)
