Developing a joined effort with cross functional capabilities under pinning legal and regulatory compliance within the business establishing standards, best practice and continuous improvement in areas of responsibility.

To drive, develop, implement, manage, control and maintain the Hermes security systems. This includes all loss prevention, fraud and business continuity strategies to safeguard employees and assets and through efficient management minimize loss and mitigate risks.
To lead and support on the delivery of the companies H! ealth and Safety objectives developing a culture of continuous improvement. Ensuring compliance with current Health and Safety legislation and approved codes of practice. Working proactively with the company’s management teams to establish policy and standards, maintaining safe systems of work ensuring a safe environment for colleagues and customers.

To support the development, implementation and integration of externally accredited standards and related management systems including; ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001. Utilising those management system frameworks as a methodology to develop and support consistency & compliance working with relevant internal stakeholders for the benefit of our clients.

To ensure the protection of the Hermes courier model through a programme of governance and audit controls ensuring Hermes is compliant with the requirement of the HMRC Self Employed Status. Advising on the risk or potential impact to the existing courier mod! el of any commercial and operational requirement to extend; New services, markets, or other business developments.

Responsibilities:
To formulate, organise, implement, monitor and review security, safety, environment, quality and other related policies and procedures designed to promote a legal, ethical, safe & secure environment for all staff within the Group. Working at all levels and all areas of the business to ensure the profile of Support Services and related issues are raised at the highest levels of the business.

To manage, control and direct a team of Manager’s, operating across Hermes, ensuring objectives and robust KPI’s are set, implemented, measured and achieved with the principle aims being the maintenance of staff safety, security, reduction of losses and compliance with legal, regulatory and company policy and process.

To manage, control and direct nominated 3 rd party suppliers in line with contractual agreements an! d to develop and influence on-going improvement strategies and operatio! ns designed to enhance the performance of the suppliers and contribute to the achievement of department and business objectives and KPI’s.

To formulate, monitor and manage the Support Services budget and ensure a cost effective and justified capital expenditure programme is maintained.

Manage, develop and support the Support Services team.
To develop, implement, manage and review the Business Continuity Plan designed to identify potential impacts that threaten the business, provide a framework for building resilience with the capability to effectively manage any incident or crisis likely to cause or interfere with the operational or financial function of the business, mitigate indirect losses and safeguard the interests of corporate key stakeholders, the Hermes reputation and brand.

To manage, develop, direct, co-ordinate and monitor the internal and external fraud investigation and recovery process, utilising all available data gathering pr! ocesses to target and maximise recovery of stock and monies from external fraudulent account holders and dishonest staff. To identify and recognise methods of fraudulent abuse against the Company and, via collaborative ways of working with Credit Operations and data crime pattern analysis processes, implement pro-active preventative measures designed to reduce loss and minimise risk.

To develop, implement, manage and review robust and effective risk assessment and audit processes to identify opportunities for improvement, areas of non compliance or conformance, risk of legal or regulatory breaches and drive pro-active preventative measures to mitigate risk, reduce corporate loss and maximise investment.

To promote, manage and develop the accurate and immediate reporting and escalation of incidents within Support Services areas of responsibility. Direct, lead or carry out appropriate investigations where necessary and implement pro-active preventative measu! res to accurately assess on-going risk and mitigate repetition.
To ensure Support Services guidance and advice is provided, as required, in any corporate project or initiative where there is a relevant business requirement.

Liaise and work directly with clients supporting the development of relationships providing guidance and support from the Support Services team and function as required. Maintaining a high standard of client and customer care and contributing to the development of a culture of customer service excellence within the organisation.

Ensure the companies Health and Safety Policy is implemented consistently across the organization and support the company’s achievement of externally recognised standards including; ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 fostering a culture of continuous improvement delivered through a systematic approach to management.

Monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety Policy and Practice and to develop and implement new policy and procedure documents as required. Develo! p, implement and evaluate a Health and Safety Action Plan for the company, and to contribute to the development and delivery of the company’s business plan.

Advise the executive and management teams on the implications of current and emerging Health and Safety legislation, making recommendations and generating action plans to ensure compliance across the organisation. Provide Health and Safety guidance and perspective to management and the Board when developing new and existing services, policies and procedures.

Work with Hermes external auditors to develop a programme of certification and surveillance to deliver the extension and retention of externally recognised standards. Develop and maintain a competent internal auditor programme in line with the requirements of ISO9001, ISO14001 & OHSAS18001 or other standards where achieved. Ensure conformance to legal & regulatory obligations, procedures and continual improvement in line with the requirements of ! Hermes accredited standards.

Working with the Courier Council,! Legal, HR and other stakeholders, engage with regulatory bodies, eg HMRC, Information Commissionaire and others as required, to ensure Hermes remains compliant with legislative, regulatory or best practise requirements for a Self Employed Status model.

Support the development of a legal & regulatory compliant courier strategy in order to de-risk non conformance with the self employed status. With all relevant stakeholders, create and continually update a Self Employed Status “standard” and related audit programme for Hermes courier model in order to manage and measure compliance.

Qualifications:
Ideally experience/knowledge of the supply chain/ parcels industry, but must have substantial experience in a similar support services role for a fast-moving organization in a multi site environment.

Experience of legal and regulatory enforcement processes with a keen eye for developments in the industry. Keeping abreast of latest trends an! d issues is very important.

Strong business acumen and understanding how Support Services functions can influence business results is key.

Evidence of relationships with senior client contacts is imperative. Must feel comfortable presenting to client groups as required. Awareness of client satisfaction (internal/external) is critical.

Knowledge & experience of legislative requirements in relation to self employed contracts.

Experience of liaising with external bodies eg HSE, HMRC, legal advisors, insurance company etc.

Evidence of BCP process management is an advantage.

Gains achievement of goals and objectives through positive man-power motivation and leadership.

A successful track record in operating to KPI’s and SLA’s objectives

Strong problem solving and decision making skills.

Excellent communication and customer focus skills, able to influence both internally and externally and establ! ish themselves quickly within the business.

A degree level qua! lification or similar in a business or technical discipline.

A relevant professional qualification in one or more Support Services areas.

Has the ability to handle complex tasks, with evidence of effective and successful results.

Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to challenge constructively at all levels within an organisation.

Effective team working and networking skills and the ability to work independently using own initiative
