For September 2012 the school is looking to appoint an English teacher who is ready ! to take on the wider challenge of middle management.
We are a friendly mixed comprehensive non-faith school in inner London, and we want all our pupils to become the authors of their own life stories not the subjects of them and we provide a curriculum that makes sure everyone can leave us with the qualifications they need to follow their chosen career route.
As an Academy we can maximise the control of our own destiny, although in practice we share with our neighbouring schools the common purpose of providing a top class education to the children of Newham. We are entering into a very exciting period where we will be redeveloping our buildings to expand from 6 to 10 forms of entry and we need a creative second in charge who can use this oppportunity to work with the head of department to create an outstanding department.
In 2012 our school recorded its highest ever GCSE results with 62% of pupils achieving 5 A*-C including M&E. This is part of a ! 5 year trend of improvement which we expect to continue.
About YOU:
QTS
First Degree in English (or equivilent)
Evidence of continuing professional development
A highly effective teacher of English
An excellent record of attendance and punctuality
Recent experience of coaching, mentoring or line management of staff
YOU will be committed to the comprehensive ideal, to the principals and practice of equal opportunities. You will have the knowledge and vision to put these into practice to meet currenr and future challenges. You will have a keen interest in how pupils learn and experience of putting this knowledge into practice, a demonstratable enthusiasm for developing the ability of all pupils and an up to date knowledge and understanding of developments in English.
