Digital Education, is leading the establishing of a global online education venture. It is a new division of Macmillan Publishers Ltd. focusing on the B2C online education market. The division aims to make learning more effective and fun by applying latest technology, while leveraging existing Macmillan assets. Besides being an active early-stage investor it incubates business complementing its ecosystem of services in the online education space, e.g. Germany's leading service for private tutoring www.tutoria.de. The focus is on creating offerings for parents and adults accompanying users on their lifelong learning journey.

We are looking for a Director of Online Marketing to assume overarching responsibility for taking the day-to-day performance of our portfolio companies in performance marketing/SEO to the next level and for assessing the capabilities of investment targets. This entails working closely with selected portfolio companies and their managers/founders, supporting their specific online marketing needs. Besides establishing best practice processes, improving the operational teams via expert advice and completing impactful projects for them is key. In the field of SEO a unit wide optimization strategy should be formulated and executed, supporting the overall performance. As we have ambitious growth targets, setting up internal trainings and coaching processes is crucial to ensure building a strong organisational fundament. This role requires profound operational experience in online marketing channels, a network of specialists and the drive to become an opinion leader in the industry.

The ideal candidate will have strong SEM, SEO and social media experience (particularly Facebook) as well as knowledge of Affiliate marketing and Mobile Marketing. You should have held responsibility for online marketing of B2C platforms from strategy definition (interplay with offline channels) to implementation and optimization. You should have proven experience of driving online services from first online marketing campaigns to substantial budgets as well having the ability to build and lead specialist teams.

The role reports directly into the Managing Director of Digital Education, and necessitates close working relationships with key stakeholders in Macmillan and the Holtzbrinck group. The role operates from London and requires willingness to travel.
