United Response support people with learning difficulties to live their lives to the full, taking part in activities of their choosing, whilst promoting independence.
A role has arisen for a Relief Support Worker at a supported living service within United Response in Whickham. In this role you will support people who have a learning difficulty to enable them to achieve independence in all areas of their life. You will work as part of a team but will work closely with the individual, getting to know the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the people we support and what is important to them.
We are looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals to join our staff team who will be involved in encouraging the people we support in meaningful interaction in a person centred way. We will offer you an ongoing training and development programme and regular 1-1's with your Line Manager to enable you reach your full potential.
Your day will be varied, supporting people in their local community or at home, with activities of their choice. We provide support over a 24 hour period, 7 days per week. However this role is for Relief staff only, covering staff on Annual Leave, off sick or on training courses. Therefore the hours will be predominantly evenings and weekends.
You must be age 18+ and be both literate and numerate. Experience of working with people with mental health needs and/or learning difficulties is an advantage. An NVQ2 or equivalent in Social Care would be advantageous, if not, you must be willing to work towards one. A current clean driving licence is essential for this post and you must be prepared to drive the person we supports vehicle.
