You will be a key member of the Permit/NRSWA team who will be responsible for administrative and technical support to ensure that the Council are able to fulfil its duties and obligations under the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) and the London Permitting Scheme (LoPS).
This is an important role as the outcomes of this post holder’s duties will be used to determine performance, parity and the financial position with regards to Street Works activity.
This role requires an understanding of works carried out on the public highway by highway maintenance contractors and utility companies and ideally relevant legislation which governs this activity.
You will need to be well organised and able to prioritise and remain flexible to ensure that tight deadlines are met.
You will be required to utilise, on a daily basis, the EXOR Atlas software package and in particular the Street Works module and it would therefore be desirable, but not essential, if you have experience of using the system.
Duties will include determining permit applications, monitoring compliance challenging where deemed appropriate, determining variations, identifying concerns and dealing with NRSWA Act Section 50 and Section 74 issues as they arise.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with excellent organisational and communication skills to ensure that the benefits of the Permitting scheme are fully realised including input which will assist in meeting increased income targets.
