Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) is developing a new integrated contraception and sexual health service delivered from a range of community-based locations across Buckinghamshire. As part of the service THT will provide outreach sexual health promotion services targeted at especially vulnerable young people, black minority ethnic communities and high risk groups such as gay men and sex workers.
The Health Promotion Officer (HPO) will deliver sexual health outreach interventions utilising community engagement and partnerships with relevant local agencies to reach different target groups. The post holder will need a good knowledge and understanding of delivering evidence-based health promotion interventions with various vulnerable to poor sexual health and HIV. The post will support the Lead Sexual Health Nurse to ensure increased access of target groups to outreach contraception and sexual health services.
The post will have the opportunity to access THT's staff education programme and on going professional development. Further training and support will be provided to enable the HPO to undertake point of care HIV testing and other non-complex clinical services.
