The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Columbia Business School’s Admissions Office is hiring readers for our Auxiliary Reader Program. Each year, Columbia Business School receives over 6,000 applications. Auxiliary Readers aid this selection process by helping to review applications for the Columbia Business School MBA program via an online system, Technolutions Slate. This includes reading and reviewing the online application form, undergraduate (and potentially graduate) transcripts, standardized test scores, short answer questions and/or essays, resumes, and recommendations for each assigned applicant.

Responsibilities

Each Auxiliary Reader is assigned a queue of candidate applications to review (volume varies annually) to be reviewed at a pace of 2.5 applications per hour.

This review will include assigning appropriate rankings in pre-determined categories, as well as a thorough summary assessment. Training is provided and required at the start of each cycle year.

Interested applicants must be available to review all assigned files during the peak times of the cycle (September-October, January-February, April). Attention to detail, accountability and ability to work and meet expectations under tight deadlines required.

The work schedule will be 20 hours per week (can vary). All work will be completed remotely.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 0-3 years related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

MBA or other graduate degree strongly preferred; ideally candidates will either have five to seven years of prior work experience in admissions, student affairs, recruiting or an applicable field. Deep knowledge of business and business careers, and strong written and oral communication skills, are essential.
