Purpose of the Job
To assist in ensuring that the Gateway(s) are maintained in a clean and healthy state and the activities ide! ntified are carred out in the an efficient and careful manner that complies with Health & Safety requirements.

Specific Accountabilities
The accountability list covers the major areas for which the post holder is responsible. Key accountabilities are common to all Domestic Assistants within Adult Care Services. Accountability areas are further developed through the Employee Development Interview, and supervision sessions.

  • Surface dusting, floor care, window cleaning, ensuring hygenic conditions in toilets/changing room areas, attention to door handles
  • Replenishment of supply of towels, toilet paper and other personal requisities as required.
  • Safe removal of litter and waste to allocated disposal points, taking particular care with liquids, broken glass or other substances, which may be unsafe to other staff or service users
  • Ensure mops, cloths etc, are washed and left to dry as appropriate at the end of each session.!
  • Operation of laundry equipment as necessary i.e. pre! paration, finishing packing of laundry
  • Able to safely operate moden machine aids which assist in the cleaning of the building
  • Ensuring all containers of cleaning agents are correctly labelled before use and are used safely and in compliance with manufacturer’s written instructions and that all chemicals are securely stored away when not in use.
  • Working safely using correct warning signs, protective clothing and safety equipment, being mindful of hazards to other staff and service users. Compliance with the Health & Safety practices of the Directorate.
  • Cleaning and checking all equipment used after use, checking cables for wear and tear and storing away in a suitable safe area. Notifying Team Leader of any faults found.
  • Reporting immediately to your Team Leader any defective electrical sockets, lighting etc in your cleaning areas.
  • Ensuring Team Leader is aware of low stock levels of materials and equipment for which are! you are responsible.
  • Assist in keeping chemicals and cleaning materials and equipment storage areas in a clean and tidy condition.
  • To undertake such other duties as may reasonably fall within the scope of the post and in particular to assist, as necessary, with the care and safety of a service user when circumstances require.
  • In addition to all the responsibilities listed above, all employees must be flexible in their approach and undertake other duties that are commensurate with the post holder’s level., wherever they may be, to acheive the objectives of the Directorate. This can include working at weekends and hours may need to be flexible to meet the needs of the service.

  • To represent the Council and Directorate in a professional manner meeting the Corporate and Directorate aims. To comply with Directorate and Corporate policies.
  • If appropriate to be responsible for the recruitment and performance management of designated teams and individuals in accordance with Corporate and Directorate aims and management style.
  • To comply with the councilÂ's financial regulation and standing orders.
  • To actively promote DudleyÂ's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, yo! ung people and vulnerable adults at a level appropriate to this role and setting.
  • Employees must comply with health and safety legislation and will be required to comply with the CouncilÂ's Health and Safety Policies. All employees must ensure that they take reasonable care of their own health and safety as well as the health and safety of any person that is affected by their actions.
  • To be responsible for adhering to legislative requirements and Council Policies and Procedures including, but not exclusively health and safety, Data Protection and Internet/Email use.
Health & Safety:
  • You must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and affiliated regulations. You are also required to comply with the CouncilÂ's Health and Safety Policies and take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions. Where the Council has a statuto! ry duty with regard to health and safety you are required to cooperate ! with the Council and itÂ's managers and officers so far as is necessary to enable the Council to meet that duty. This includes using equipment and substances in accordance with training and instruction and the reporting of serious dangers to your own or others safety.
