The role acts in the highest level technical support role as an individual contributor and/or team lead for the most complex computer applications and/or application initiatives. Responsible for the support of Product, Manufacturing or Applications Engineering projects as required. This support may include, but is not limited to problem resolution, testing and implementation of company hardware and software systems and networks. Additionally, the engineer is also responsible for complying with quality systems procedures, as required. The engineer is also responsible for the design, development, and support package system for the organization’s products.
Responsibilities include:
- The installation and support of any computer equipment, systems or associated hardware/software as required.
- Creating Packages (.MSI) and (.EXE) using Wise Package Studio based on Requirements.
- Packaging Development using Wise Package Studio, App-V and Install shield.
- Involve Troubleshooting process of various .MSI applications. Used third party tools viz ORCA, Filemon, Regmon, Install Rite and Picture Taker as part of Troubleshooting
- Testing the package created to validate the business requirement,
- To participate in Customer meetings, site surveys and audits on current and potential customer sites, to establish “best practice†methodology to fulfil customer requirements.
- Act as the escalation point for the most complex platform or software problems and testing.
- To provide technical support to Customers, Sales Team, Engineers, Development, QA and Helpdesk where necessary.
- To accurately complete all paperwork and to be familiar with and follow documented procedures and working practices relevant to the job.
- Work flexible hours including night, weekends and holidays.
- Be responsive to out of hours support calls.
- In agreement with senior management, to perform such tasks as may be deemed necessary to assist the company in the performance of the business.
- Support Product Development Life Cycle (PDLCC) and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) by adding values to the continuously improving quality.
- Produce software packages for deployment and distribution.
- Communicate effectively with technical personnel, such as programmers, as well as with managers and clients who may have a limited computer background.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, either by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Significant experience of Software packaging and installation.
- Expertise in creating Patches, Transforms and Merge Modules
- Good understanding on WISE and VB script
- Expert knowledge of the installation, operation and maintenance of three-tier software applications.
- Expert knowledge of VMware virtualization product and Microsoft Virtual product.
- Advanced knowledge of desktop and server operating systems, Windows 2003, windows 2008, 2000 and XP.
- Advanced Active Directory environment experience.
- Advanced experience in a production environment with Windows 2000, XP group policies.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server.
- Strong knowledge of thin client technology and Citrix
- Ability to design, document and implement network infrastructures
- A relevant bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) and some work experience is required. However, more significant experience in Software Packaging and System Installation will waive educational requirements
