Plant Operative! (Loading Shovel, Telescopic Handler Clamp/Shovel), Waste & recycling Sector
8 - 10.35 per hour / ongoing
We are currently recruiting for a Plant Operative to work with our client who is a specialist in Waste and recycling based in the Leicestershire area.
Working as a Plant Operative you would be required to:
- The safe operation of mobile plant
- Working to health and safety, environmental other standards as they apply to the process
- Assisting where necessary with the composting process
- Processing and movement of materials
- Building material windrows
- Assisting with setting up and running of shredder and screening machines
- Feeding shredder and screening machines with material for process
- Cleaning and sanitising work areas
- Carrying out daily checks in accordance with company procedures and site working plan
- Co-operating with site management
- Mai! ntaining Standard Operating Procedures as required
- Wo! rking to the site critical control point plan
- Working to timescales and deadlines
- Learning the composting process and contributing to the success of the operation
Person Requirements
Candidates for this role should possess the following skills:
- Experience of working in an operation with quality and health and safety systems
- Recognised license or qualification to operate plant, CITB, CPCS, EPIC, NVQ or proof of experience
- A demonstrable period of plant operating experience with one or more of the following - loading shovels, agricultural equipment, combine harvester, tracked shovel or bulldozer, excavator, skid steer loaders, tractor and trailer or other industrial equipment
- Experience of setting up screening or similar processing plant
- Experience of feeding screening or similar! processing plant
- The ability to work in a team based environment
- Flexibility and willingness to be involved in all aspects of the operation
- The role will initially involve working 8 hour shifts from 07:00-15:30 Mon-Fri with some weekend and Bank Holiday working (although this pattern may be subject to change depending on the operational needs of the business)
- The right person for this role should be a team player but have the ability to work well unsupervised, manage their time effectively and be self motivated
- Experience in the waste or utilities industries and a knowledge of waste industry practices would be advantageous
- Knowledge of quality protocols would be an advantage, but full training in the site requirements will be given.
