This is a locum post based at Royal Manchester ChildrenÂ's Hospital to commence in December 2013 to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will join a team of 5.5 whole time equivalent Paediatric Radiologists on the Central Manchester site and will work with the existing Radiologists to provide the full range of diagnostic and interventional paediatric Imaging.
Central Manchester University Hospitals Foundation Trust (CMFT) was established in 2001 by the merger of Central Manchester and Manchester ChildrenÂ's Hospital Trusts. In January 2009 the Trust achieved Foundation Status. The Trust completed a £450M capital development in 2009 which saw the rebuilding of St Marys Hospital for Women and relocation of the ChildrenÂ's Hospitals to the Central Manchester site.
The Trust provides secondary and tertiary services for a population in the North West of England of up to 5 million.
The Radiology Department a! t the Royal Manchester ChildrenÂ's Hospital is housed in a mod! ern 11 room development and includes a 128 slice CT system, a 1.5T MR unit, 2 Fluoroscopy rooms, a 3 room general ultrasound suite and 3 general radiography rooms. There is a dedicated Paediatric Gamma Camera in the Department of Nuclear Medicine, where there is also a PET CT facility used for Children.
There are close links with the University Department of Clinical Radiology, located on the adjacent site. This has high research profile and plays a key role in the organisation of the Manchester Regional Radiology Training Scheme.
